Letter to Mrs Yeo

Dear Mrs yeo,
It has been quite a while since the last time I saw you. The class and I longed for your presence. We really miss the quality time we had with you. It was a great loss for us not having you as our English teacher. You are a fabulous experienced teacher that any class would appreciate.
Many fascinating events had taken place when you were not around in school. Recently, the school had the chance to send a few of our students to Shanghai for a twinning program. Three of my classmates went and they really had a fruitful time. It got even better when the students from Shanghai came to Singapore to get a feel of how the education system is like in Singapore. They adapted to the class fast. However they felt bored during the lessons as they could only understand Basic English and it was tough for them to follow. I tried to get to know them better by playing a game of basketball with them. Communicating with them during the game was almost impossible. I needed my Chinese friends to translate whenever I want talk to them. All in all, I feel that it was unsuccessful. Until now, I still can't remember any of their names. One other very interesting event that had taken place was the Youth hands-on-day. It is a Community Involvement Programme (CIP) day. Usually, CIP is done level by level on separate days. This year, it was rather different but special. CIP was done on the same day for all levels. The graduating classes had really benefited from the event. This was because we had a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to visit and clean a stranger’s home. However, these people are not any normal stranger. They are those who are in their golden years and in need of help. It was something that most of the students were experiencing for the first time. It was a very memorable moment for me. It really touched me and tugged at my heartstrings. I hope none of my family members will ever go through the misery they are are living in.

Globalisation

Globalisation affects both the developed and the lesser-developed nations. It is a global phenomenon. It has benefited us in many ways. However, it also leaves damages, usually permanent, to mother earth. Global warming is a very reliable evidence to show us the negative effects of globalisation. The crucial increase of the earth’s temperature caused by excessive greenhouse gasses produced mainly by manufacturing industries world -wide may have little or no effect on us now but the effects would definitely increase with time.
Many feels that something is needed to be done to stop this torture. Non-beneficial organizations have set up numerous campaigns on understanding and preventing globalisation. The United Nations had also renewed the current protocol on reducing the emission of harmful gasses world-wide. However, in my own opinion, all this effort is a waste of time. I feel that globalisation is part of a nation’s development. A nation needs to globalise to progress to be a better nation. A nation needs to globalise to stay competitive regionally or maybe even globally.
We just have to adapt to the change. We have to live on higher land. We have to live in the choking environment. Our children have to live without knowing what polar bears are. These, are the type of change we should be ready to face. We have to except the fact that one day; the world will come to an end when damages reach its maximum.

My favourite food

Food. Believe it or not, it could actually determine our life span. Thus, choosing the right food to be consumed every day could be vital in the long run. However, like how most people feel, unhealthy food actually taste better than the healthy ones. If that is your opinion about food, be very prepared. You may not be suffering now but you will definitely feel the pinch sooner or later.
Unhealthy food could lead to deadly diseases such as heart attack, diabetes, stroke and organ failures. These are the reason why I chose fish ball noodles as my favourite food. The irresistible taste of the soup and the tenderness of the fish ball meat, which literally melts in your mouth makes me salivate just by thinking of it. Tasty yet healthy. I prefer it to be cooked at home by my mother though. I can make special request such as not using any oil in the soup, more vegetables and to be served warm. Some of these requests are almost impossible to be made outside. Outside, the soup is usually oily and the sweetness to indicate the freshness of the meat is always missing. Thus, I am always reluctant to eat my favourite food outside.
However, waiting for the day when my mother finally decides to cook my favourite food is definitely worth waiting for because if I eat it too often than who knows, it could no longer be my favourite food. Maybe it could be yong tau foo, or cheese burger perhaps, or maybe........
